Summer is approaching, and extreme weather conditions are becoming more frequent. As HVAC manufacturers, today we recommend horizontal fan coil unit. These horizontal fan coil unit are ideal for spaces with limited room, making them suitable for families with children or homes where room layout requirements are high.

In air conditioning system design, it is common to select horizontal fan coil unit based on the maximum cooling load of the room. The goal is to ensure room temperature during peak loads. However, in reality, most of the time, air-conditioned rooms do not operate at peak loads. This results in excess cooling capacity, leading to switching to medium or low settings to balance the room’s heat.

The actual cooling output of the unit depends on the variation in air conditioning load, rather than the nominal cooling capacity of the unit. Therefore, cooling capacity is a necessary condition for air conditioning but does not solely determine its effectiveness. Evaluating air conditioning performance involves two factors:

  1. The proximity of the average room temperature to the set temperature.
  2. The temperature distribution (gradient) and fluctuation range within the room.

Larger temperature differentials in the supply air lead to fewer air exchanges, resulting in greater temperature gradients and fluctuations. Thus, supply air temperature differentials and air exchange rates are the primary factors affecting air conditioning precision and comfort. Literature specifies maximum supply air temperature differences and minimum air exchange rates for different precision air-conditioned rooms. Higher precision air conditioning requires smaller supply air temperature differences and more frequent air exchanges.

Therefore, selecting based solely on the maximum cooling load is insufficient. It is essential to consider appropriate supply air temperature differentials and air exchange rates to meet the comfort requirements of the room。

Here’s the installation precautions:

  1. Level the four suspension points during horizontal installation to prevent condensate water overflow caused by elevating one end of the condensate water outlet. For vertical or connected installations, keep one end slightly lower.
  2. Install flexible connections and valves for the inlet and outlet pipes to facilitate water flow adjustment and maintenance. Use a filter valve on the inlet pipe to prevent debris from clogging the internal unit pipes.
  3. The condensate water pipe should ideally be slightly lower than the unit to ensure unobstructed drainage.
  4. If the machine requires cooling, insulate the inlet and condensate water pipes.
  5. The unit’s power supply should be single-phase 220V ±10%, 50Hz AC. Ensure that the motor casing has a proper grounding connection, and check the fan rotation direction upon power-up.
  6. During winter shutdown, drain any residual water inside the machine to prevent freezing damage to the internal evaporator.
  7. Unplug the power cord during extended periods of non-use to prevent damage from lightning strikes.
  8. When connecting the fan, follow the specified wiring diagram precisely. For multiple machines sharing a controller switch, each machine must have a separate control switch; they cannot share one switch
